Editorial Guidelines
Standards worth knowing about.
Our Commitment
The Daily Scroll is committed to accurate, fair, and substantive journalism. We believe readers deserve to know not just what happened, but why it matters — and we're willing to say so. Our editorial team operates independently, and our coverage is guided by what our writers genuinely find worth covering, not what performs well.
Accuracy and Corrections
Factual accuracy is non-negotiable. Before publication, our writers are expected to verify key claims, attribute sources clearly, and avoid misrepresenting data, quotes, or events. When we make a mistake, we correct it — promptly, clearly, and without defensiveness. If you believe we've published an error, please contact us so we can address it.
Corrections, when made, are noted at the top of the article with the date and nature of the correction.
Sources and Attribution
We cite our sources. When a claim depends on a study, a document, or a specific interview, readers can find that attribution in the story. When we're relying on unnamed sources for newsworthy information, we require the reason for anonymity to be defensible and we weigh that sourcing accordingly. Anonymous tips alone are not sufficient basis for publication — we verify independently wherever possible.
Independence
Our coverage decisions are made by our editorial team. Advertising relationships do not influence what we cover or how we cover it. If an advertiser or partner ever attempts to influence editorial content, that relationship ends. We don't publish sponsored content or advertorials.
Diverse Perspectives
We cover the world as it actually is, which means covering people and perspectives that don't all look the same. Our writers bring different backgrounds, viewpoints, and areas of expertise to their beats — and we believe that diversity makes for better journalism, not worse. We actively seek out stories that reflect the full scope of the communities we write for.
Conflicts of Interest
Our writers and editors disclose material conflicts of interest to our editorial leadership before taking on related assignments. Personal financial interests in companies or topics we cover are disqualifying. Gifts, travel, or other benefits from PR firms, companies, or other coverage subjects are not accepted.
